Major Worship Services Schedule Change
The new 4th Worship Service is finally here! Beginning on August 14th, here is what Hope’s Sunday worship times will look like:
8:00am Sanctuary
9:30am Sanctuary
11:00am Sanctuary
6:00pm LIFT in the Gym
Here’s just a few notes to be aware of as we make this change:
We ask for patience as we make this transition. Hope has had 2 morning services for a long time, and this marks a big change in the life of our congregation. There will be kinks that we’ll need to work through and we’ll do our best.
The great news is that this change was necessary because our congregation just keeps growing!
All three morning worship services will be the same, with two exceptions:
• When the Choir sings, they will likely only sing at one service per week. They will be singing in place of the Psalm when they do sing.
• Communion at 8:00 will be done kneeling at the altar. Communion at 9:30 and 11:00 will be done in standing rotation.
• Our Sunday school hour will still be held from 9:30-10:30am beginning September 11.
We strongly encourage parents to worship together with their children. Despite the fact that we’ll now have Sunday school and worship at the same time, we strongly discourage parents from just dropping their children off for Sunday school while they attend worship.
We are moving to a Narrative Lectionary. You’ll have a chance to read more about this in the Weekly, but basically, we’ll have 1 Psalm and 1 Scripture reading each week (rather than the 3 we used to have).
Each reading will happen in chronological order, so that each week we will move through the major stories of the Bible in the order that they actually happened. We’ll start with Creation in August, move through the Old Testament in the fall, reach Jesus about Christmas time, read about him through the spring, and after Easter read stories of the early church.
If you have any questions or helpful comments as we make this change, please talk to either Nancy Luedloff (our Worship, Liturgies & Rites council person) or Pastor Chad.
What a great time to be part of Hope Lutheran!
